On October 27-November 5 Thornton Tomasetti | CORE studio hosted the eleventh annual AECtech Conference in NYC! Thank you to the presenters and hosts from over 32 organizations that made this year possible. And thanks to the over 400 participants who made this year an incredible and inspiring event. The event featured 10 Virtual and 12 In-Person Workshops hosted by AEC firms and Software Platform leading innovation in the industry. This year saw the return of the Tech Crawl with an expanded group of 16 host companies welcoming participants into their practice. While the Symposium saw and inspirational round of presentations and discussions from 19 thought leaders. And this year’s hackathon saw a record 120 attendees team up to create 16 incredibly unique projects.

On June 24-25, LMN Architects hosted the second AECtech event in Seattle. This years event featured a series of light masterclasses and a full Hackathon at LMN’s incredible new Shop Space in downtown Seattle. This was the first AECtech Hackathon held in a common space in over 5 years which brought an incredible energy to the day.

Thank you to everyone who attended the tenth annual AECtech Symposium & Hackathon! This year’s event was the largest yet in both scope and participation. Thornton Tomasetti | CORE studio was excited to host a six day gathering of thought leaders from over 25 companies and organizations . This year featured 11 Virtual and 6 In Person Masterclasses hosted from experts from around the world. This year AECtech introduced a new event called the Tech Crawl where 6 local architecture and engineering firms welcomed guests to their offices to discuss how they approach innovation and apply technology with their practice. This lead up to this year’s Full Day Symposium live-streamed from the Center for Architecture in NYC where 22 presenters and panelists shared their insights and innovations. The event finished strong with a 27-hour hackathon that produced 14 uniquely innovative projects.

On November 4-7 Thornton Tomasetti | CORE studio hosted the ninth annual AECtech Symposium and Hackathon. This event featured a diverse set of intensive Virtual Masterclasses followed by a hybrid Symposium which live-streamed an incredible array of presentations and round table discussions from the Center for Architecture. The event concluded with a hybrid 27-hour hackathon bringing 9 innovative projects to the world. Our sincere thanks to all who participated virtually and in person in AECtech’s first hybrid event. On July 8-12 Thornton Tomasetti | CORE studio virtually hosted AECtech 2021 UK in collaboration with Simply Rhino, Grimshaw Architects, and KPF Architects which explored innovations coming out of the UK AEC space and their global collaborations. This virtual event was attended by an amazing group of teachers, presenters, and participants who spanned the globe and came together to learn new ways of working during 2 day of workshops, pioneer new technology during a 27-hour hackathon, and hear presentations from industry leaders about evolutions in technology and practice.

We’re pushing ahead with our annual conference, AEC Tech 2020, this October 16-19. We are crossing our fingers and hoping that we can have this as an in-person event, however, we are closely monitoring the situation within the state, country, and our community. We want to remain flexible and prepared for any possible situation, so as we are planning AEC Tech 2020, we are also creating contingency plans in the case that we cannot meet in-person.
